Overview

This comprehensive and interactive course is comprised of dynamic lectures, spirited role plays, case-based discussion, and small group breakouts. After completing the Synthesis course, participants will be able to integrate the tools, knowledge, and skills learned into their practice as a PALTC medical director. This will result in the improvement in the quality of services provided in their facilities and the enhancement of their own professional development.

Emphasis is placed on the following areas:

  • Implement the use of QAPI tools, problem solving concepts, and root cause analysis in monitoring and managing quality indicators and quality management data.
  • Incorporate systems theory, systems management, and leadership skills into the daily work of the PALTC medical director.

CME Credit
CME Designation Statement
AMDA - The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine designates this live activity for a maximum of 17 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits . Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

CME Accreditation Statement
AMDA - The Society for Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

ABPLM CMD Program
The Core Curriculum on Medical Direction in Long-Term Care, or its equivalent on long-term care management, is required for all Certified Medical Director (CMD) candidates. This course is the foundation for certification as an APBLM CMD. Taking the course does not make you a CMD. There are other requirements to complete. CMD Credit Statement
This live activity has been pre-approved by the American Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine (ABPLM) for a total of 17 management hours toward certification as a Certified Medical Director (CMD) in post-acute and long-term care medicine. The CMD program is administered by the ABPLM.  Each physician should claim only those hours of credit actually spent on the activity. 

ABIM MOC Credit
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 17 medical knowledge MOC points and patient safety MOC credit in the American Board of Internal Medicine's (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program.

Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

ABFM Family Medicine Certification (formerly MC-FP) 
This activity may be eligible to help meet ABFM Family Medicine Certification (formerly MC-FP) Requirements. Participants may self-report  AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)TM to meet Certification requirements via the Physician Portfolio on the ABFM website. All CME credits are subject to final approval by the ABFM.

To guarantee the group discounted room rate, you must make your reservation no later than June 27, 2023. All reservations must be accompanied by a valid credit card or first night room deposit.

The hotel cancellation deadline is 48 hours prior to arrival, otherwise one night’s room and tax will be charged to payment type on reservation. Please note that cancellation of any room reservation is your responsibility. AMDA is not responsible for cancellation charges.


Air

Attendees should fly to San Antonio International Airport (SAT).


Ground Transportation

The hotel is located in downtown San Antonio, approximately 8 miles from San Antonio International Airport. Taxis and rideshare services such as Uber and Lyft are available at the airport.

Valet parking is available at the hotel for $49 per day + tax. Self parking is not available.  Please note the Society does not validate parking.

Registration Cancellation
Cancellations must be submitted via email to registration@paltc.org. Cancellations must be received seven (7) days prior to the start of the course for a full refund less a $100 administrative fee. Cancellations received less than seven (7) days prior to the start of the course will result in the forfeiture of all registration fees. "No Shows" also forfeit all fees. Forfeited registration fees cannot be applied to subsequent AMDA programs.

If it becomes necessary to cancel or postpone the start date of the course, the Society will not be responsible for travel or hotel costs incurred by the registrant. A full refund of registration fees will be made if the course is not rescheduled, or if the registrant is unable to attend the rescheduled course.

We will modify health and safety precautions if deemed necessary. Any updates will be communicated to all registrants via email.
