The 3D's: A Revised 3-in-1 CPG (Archive 10/26/22)

1.0 CME / 1.0 CMD Clinical

This webinar will introduce the new clinical practice guideline (CPG) from AMDA, Delirium, Depression, and Dementia (3Ds) in the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Setting. Each of the 3Ds—delirium, depression, and dementia—represents a distinct condition observed in a variety of clinical settings. As clinicians in post-acute and long-term care (PALTC) frequently confront two or all three of these conditions simultaneously, it is important to recognize the variability in presentation and the core characteristics of each. Christian Bergman, MD, CMD, FACP, and Nancy Overstreet, DNP, GNP-BC, will share insights about the updated format of the CPG and can help practitioners and staff take a stepwise approach to recognizing, assessing, treating, and monitoring patients who have a clinical presentation consistent with one or more of the 3Ds.

AMDA’s Delirium, Depression, and Dementia (3Ds) in the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Setting CPG is supported by a grant from RRF Foundation for Aging.

Learning Objectives

By the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Differentiate between the clinical presentation of delirium, depression, and dementia (3Ds) in the PALTC setting.
  • Discuss common challenges in managing mood, behavior, and cognitive decline.
  • Describe pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic (psychosocial) treatment strategies for delirium, depression, and dementia.
  • Apply the care delivery process to management of the 3Ds.
